Crypto Market Jumps 4% as Bitcoin and Ethereum Rally

Friday saw a substantial rise in cryptocurrency prices as global markets reacted favourably to dovish comments made by a Federal Reserve official, drawing attention to possible disinflationary trends in the US economy. A strong upswing in the cryptocurrency markets was sparked by a number of factors, including a revaluation of expectations for a Fed rate hike, a loosening of bond yields, large inflows into Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETF products listed in the US, and a significant reduction in crypto short positions. In the span of a single nite, the total market capitalisation of cryptocurrencies surged 4.3%, reaching $2.73 trillion. The previous day saw Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $82,262 and Ethereum reach a new all-time high of $2,545.62. Markets around the world have been reevaluating their expectations for future Fed rate hikes after remarks by Fed Governor Waller about the possibility of disinflation reverberated. The market is now anticipating next week’s publication of August inflation statistics in response to Governor Waller’s comments about the possibility of rate hikes should inflation surpass estimates. The annual headline inflation rate was 3.4% in July, down from 3.5% in June and 4.2% in May. In July, the core inflation rate-which does not include food and fuel prices-was 2.5%, down from 2.6% in June and 2.9% in May.

U.S. Bitcoin Spot ETF products had net inflows of $731 million on Thursday, up from $101 million the previous day, a substantial rise. The ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF received $138 million, second only to the $454 million received by the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF. After seeing net withdrawals of $48 million on Wednesday, Ethereum Spot ETF products in the US saw net inflows of $141 million on Thursday. With a net inflow of $72 million, iShares Ethereum Trust ETF topped the list, while Fidelity Ethereum Fund collected $65 million. The increase in bitcoin prices was further supported by a large-scale liquidation of short positions. The market for cryptocurrencies has seen a dramatic increase in the liquidation of short positions over long positions in the past 24 hours. Compared to the $480 million obtained by selling short positions, the $88 million realised from selling long holdings was a substantial loss. There were a total of $568 million worth of liquidations in the last day. Fears about the imminent release of U.S. monthly payrolls data on Friday morning have dampened overnight advances. Compared to a decline of 23,000 in July and an increase of 20,000 in June, non-farm payroll addition is expected to reach 56,000 in August.

It is expected that the unemployment rate will remain unchanged at 4,1,000 from July. In June, the unemployment rate was 4.2%, down from 4.3% in May. The total market capitalisation of all cryptocurrencies rose 4.1% overnight, reaching $2.73 trillion, as a result of the market events. With the increase in market capitalisation came a 53% spike in trading volumes. Bitcoin now holds a 59.7 percent share of the cryptocurrency market. The market share of Ethereum is 11.3%, while the market share of other cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins, is 29.0%. The biggest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, is now trading at $81,027.07, up 4.5 percent from where it was overnight. The leading cryptocurrency’s year-to-date losses have decreased to 7.4 percent after a 2.1 percent increase over the previous week. Among all assets ranked by market capitalisation, Bitcoin maintains its position at number twelve worldwide. Between Saudi Aramco (ranked eleventh) and Meta Platforms (ranked thirteenth), the top cryptocurrency finds itself.

With a price of$2,524.75, Ethereum is up 5.4% on the market. There was a 1.3% gain for the top alternative coin over the previous week. The losses so far this year have dropped to 14.9%. According to a source, Ethereum’s market value has risen to the point that it is now ranked 63rd among all assets globally. Overnight, the price of the fourth-ranked BNB rose to $719.55, reflecting a 2.4% gain. 5th ranked XRP, a cryptocurrency that focuses on payments, experienced a 6.2% jump overnight and is now trading at $1.44. The weekly increase is at around 2.5%. Overnight, the price of Solana, which ranks 7th, surged 3.8% and reached $103.93. On Thursday, $6 million worth of Solana Spot ETF products were bought out by investors in the US market. Currently selling at $0.3280, TRON-ranked 8th overall-is 0.2 percent up. On an overnight basis, Hyperliquid, which is ranked 9th, is trading at $86.87, a 6.66 percent increase. Zcash, which is now ranked as the tenth cryptocurrency overall, saw a substantial increase of around 20% overnight, trading at $994.90.
