Crypto Market Mixed as Oil Rises and Fed Hike Bets Persist
Market activity for cryptocurrencies is uneven as investors digest news of rising crude oil prices, heightened geopolitical concerns in the Middle East, and the high anticipation around the forthcoming FOMC meeting, where the Federal Reserve is expected to hike interest rates. The losses were not as severe because of the dollar’s weakening. With a gain of 0.90 percent from the previous close, the current price of Brent crude oil futures for November settlement is $97.87. The price of WTI Crude oil for October settlement has risen 1.60 percent overnight, and is now trading at $92.94. There is a 58.4 percent chance that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates on September 16, according to the CME FedWatch program, which tracks the expectations of interest rate traders.
