Bitcoin, Ethereum Rise as Crypto Market Ignores Global Risks
Even though semiconductor stocks have been falling, violence in the Middle East has been rising, crude oil prices have jumped, and the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision is much anticipated, the recovery of cryptocurrency markets over the last 24 hours has persisted. The global cryptocurrency market capitalisation increased by more than one percent over the past twenty-four hours, as crypto markets showed resilience in the face of the chip selloff and the ongoing worry surrounding key tech earnings. Throughout the given timeframe, Bitcoin’s value varied between $64,639 and $62,715 USD. As a result of renewed geopolitical concerns caused by a fresh outbreak of violence in the Middle East, crude oil prices rose again on Wednesday. Markets have drastically revised their predictions about the likelihood of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve at the upcoming FOMC meeting, in response to a 4% overnight surge in crude oil prices. The likelihood of the Federal Reserve announcing a quarter-point rate hike on Wednesday afternoon has increased from 31% the day before to 38% now. The potential cost of keeping cryptocurrencies—which often do not yield—may rise as a result of the recent hardening of sovereign bond yields.
