XRP Traders Increase Bullish Bets as Sentiment Turns Bearish

Traders betting on XRP’s recovery are increasing, even tho the token is still struggling near the $1 mark and there has been an uptick in internet criticism reflecting the most negative sentiment in three months. There was a 2% increase over the previous day, bringing the futures open interest, which is the capital committed to outstanding derivatives bets, to about $2.78 billion on Monday. At the same time, the reported volume of trades increased by 55%, reaching close to $1.17 billion. Among Binance’s biggest traders, the ratio of long XRP positions to short ones was almost 3.6 to 1, and more than three accounts were long XRP positions for every one short. There was a constant 3.6-to-one divide in OKX. Having a long position means you think the price will go up.

Utilising leverage allows traders to take on larger positions than their available capital normally would, but there’s also the risk of being forced to sell if the market turns against them. While this was happening, opinion turned the other way. Following the token’s failure to stage a rally, onchain data indicates that commentary against XRP across many platforms, such as X, Reddit, and Telegram, has hit its most negative point in three months this week. After reaching a high of more than $3 last year, XRP has since fallen in price and is now trading at around $1. When measured in tokens, the positioning’s enormity becomes clearer.

The number of XRP owned in futures positions has increased from 2 billion earlier this summer to approximately 2.77 billion, bringing it back to levels last seen when the currency was far more valuable. There has been an uptick in activity on the ledger as well. According to Santiment, there was a surge in activity over the past 24 hours, with about 50,000 addresses being active. This is the highest level of activity seen in over two months, following a decrease that was almost as bad as it got in July of 2026. Any wallet that has sent or received funds during a given timeframe is considered an active address. It shows that more wallets are using the ledger, but it doesn’t say anything about whether the people linked to these wallets are buying, selling, or moving tokens between their own accounts.

The data shows that over a 24-hour period, the long-to-short ratio across all venues is about 0.93, which means that positioning is almost even across the market. Binance, OKX, and their bigger accounts are where you’ll find the most of the long bias. Keep an eye on what happens if XRP drops below $1. The exchange may liquidate leveraged long positions that have used up their collateral, which might lead to selling pressure in the market. While bitcoin has topped $64,000, XRP is trading at around $1 in the Asian morning hours on Monday.
