Trump Claims “Bullet Was Aimed at All of Us” at Charlie Kirk Memorial
US President Donald Trump stated that the bullet was directed at every conservative, underscoring that the conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed for advocating the beliefs they held dear. At Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, Trump addressed the audience, stating, “The gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at all of us.” That bullet was directed at each and every one of us. Charlie was killed for expressing the very ideas that nearly everyone in this arena and most other places across our country profoundly believed in.
“The radicals and their allies in the media… attempted to silence Charlie for a straightforward reason: he was achieving significant success. They lied about him because they did not want you to listen to him or to learn from him,” Trump Stated. Trump stated that one “political community” thinks they possess a monopoly on truth, goodness, and virtue, attributing their mindset to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. “No side in American politics has a monopoly on disturbed or misguided people – but there’s one part of our political community that believes they possess a monopoly on truth, goodness, and virtue, leading them to conclude they should also hold a monopoly on power, thought, and speech.” Sadly, the horrors witnessed in Utah are the inevitable outcome of such a mindset. “If speech is violence, then some are bound to conclude that violence is justified to stop speech,” Trump said.
Trump referred to Tyler Robinson, who is accused of shooting Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, as a “radicalised, cold-blooded monster.” Trump said that “God willing, he will receive the full and ultimate punishment for his horrific crime,” emphasizing that the suspect in Kirk’s killing has been charged with capital murder. Trump also addressed those who rejoiced at the death of Charlie Kirk. “Some of the very people who label you a ‘hater’ for using the incorrect pronoun were filled with glee at the killing of a father with two beautiful young children,” he stated. “The lesson of Charlie’s life is that you should never underestimate what one person can do with a good heart, a righteous cause, a cheerful spirit and the will to fight, fight, fight,” Trump said, reflecting the sentiments he expressed after surviving an assassination attempt in 2024. In a poignant address, Erika Kirk, the widow of Kirk, extended her forgiveness to Tyler Robinson, who is accused of shooting Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10.
“I forgive him, I forgive him because it is what Christ did. The answer to hate is not hate,” she said. Erika Kirk also referenced Jesus on the cross, stating, “Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do.” On September 10, 31-year-old right-wing commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University, as per reports. Authorities have taken into custody 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in relation to the homicide, with officials from the Trump administration stating that he held left-leaning political views.
