Trump promises grave implications if Putin doesn’t end conflict after summit
US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that should his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin yield positive outcomes, he would be inclined to arrange a swift subsequent meeting involving Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and himself.
“If the first one goes okay, we’ll have a quick second one,” Trump stated to reporters. “I would like to proceed with this expeditiously, and we can arrange a brief subsequent meeting involving President Putin, President Zelenskiy, and myself, should they wish for my presence.” Trump has not specified a timeframe for a subsequent meeting. He is scheduled to meet with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday.
Trump indicated that Russia would encounter repercussions should Putin fail to consent to halting the conflict. Additionally, it was stated, “Yes, they will,” he said. While he refrained from detailing the repercussions, he has cautioned that significant economic sanctions may be imposed if a breakthrough is not reached.
Trump addressed the situation following discussions conducted through telephone with European leaders and Zelenskiy regarding his upcoming meeting with Putin. “We had a very good call.” He participated in the call. President Zelenskiy participated in the call. “I would rate it a 10, very friendly,” he said.
