US intelligence suggests China will send Iran air defense equipment
US intelligence suggests that China is poised to supply new air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks, according to report on Friday, which references three individuals acquainted with recent intelligence evaluations. Indications have emerged suggesting that Beijing is attempting to route shipments through third countries in order to obscure their origin. The US State Department, the White House, the Chinese embassy in Washington, and China’s foreign ministry did not provide immediate responses.
According to sources, Beijing is poised to transfer shoulder-fired anti-air missile systems referred to as MANPADs. The United States and Iran are scheduled to engage in high-level discussions on Saturday in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, aiming to explore avenues for concluding their six-week-old conflict.
