Nestlé is set to cut 16,000 jobs in a bold turnaround move

For the purpose of accelerating the turnaround process at the Swiss food manufacturer, Philipp Navratil Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé, has announced that the business aims to eliminate 16,000 positions. The reductions, which will amount to around six percent of the workforce, are set to take place over the course of the next two years, as stated in an announcement that was issued on Thursday by the firm that is responsible for the production of Nespresso coffee capsules and KitKat candy bars.

According to Navratil’s statement that was released on Thursday, in order for Nestlé to stay up with the changing world, the company needs to become more innovative and adaptability. Because of this, it will be necessary to make decisions that are difficult to make but absolutely necessary in order to reduce the number of employees over the course of the next two years. For the purpose of achieving cost reductions, the firm has increased its target to 3 billion Swiss francs ($3.7 billion) by the end of 2027, which is an increase from its prior target of 2.5 billion Swiss francs. The prior objective was exceeded by this figure, which reflects an increase. The company issued a statement when it stated that its sales for the third quarter were greater than anticipated. The key drivers of this accomplishment were the increased price and volumes of the company’s products and services.

After Laurent Freixe, his predecessor, was taken from his post a year into his tenure for allegedly concealing a personal relationship with a subordinate, Nestlé appointed Navratil as CEO last month. This was in response to the expulsion of Freixe, who was ousted from his job. Following the occurrence, Chairman Paul Bulcke submitted his resignation earlier than was originally anticipated, and Pablo Isla, who had previously held the role of Chief Executive Officer, proceeded to assume his responsibilities. As a consequence of the restructuring, a company that is well-known for having a corporate culture that is conservative experienced a great deal of instability. As a consequence of this, the newly chosen leadership duo was tasked with the responsibility of devising a plan to revive the development of volume and address issues over governance.

Navratil, a seasoned veteran of Nestlé with over 20 years of experience, most recently directed the Nespresso company, has stated that he plans to continue implementing Freixe’s strategy. Navratil’s most recent position was as managing director of the Nespresso company. Regarding his goals, however, investors will be keeping a careful watch out for any further material that may come to light in the future. The company Nestle plans to let off 16,000 people as part of a massive attempt to turn around its business.
