Microsoft enhances AI and launches Copilot Cowork to early users

Microsoft introduced new features in its Copilot research assistant, enabling users to leverage multiple AI models concurrently within the same workflow. This development marks the latest initiative by the tech giant to enhance its AI offerings and encourage wider adoption. In a new feature called “Critique”, Copilot’s Researcher agent will now have the capability to draw outputs from both OpenAI’s GPT and Anthropic’s Claude models for every response, rather than depending on a single model.

According to Microsoft, while GPT generates the response, Claude will review the output for accuracy and quality before presenting it to the user. The company anticipates making that workflow bi-directional in the future, enabling GPT to review Claude’s drafts as well.  “Having various different models from different vendors in Copilot is highly attractive — but we’re taking this to the next level, where customers actually get the benefits of the models working together,” Nicole Herskowitz stated in an interview. Microsoft is also launching ‘model Council’, a feature that will enable users to compare responses from various AI models side-by-side.

The upgrades arrive as Microsoft rolls out its new Copilot Cowork agentic AI tool to members of its ‘Frontier’ program, granting customers early access to some of its latest AI features. Earlier this month, Microsoft introduced Copilot Cowork, a tool that builds upon Anthropic’s popular Claude Cowork product, currently in testing mode.
