Elon Musk, the chief of xAI, expressed his displeasure on Thursday following the release of OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model, which he views as his biggest competition. Musk unleashed a series of posts in the subsequent hours, asserting that his company’s Grok 4 Heavy model stands as the “most powerful AI” model on the market.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella referred to the latest model as the “most capable model yet,” emphasizing enhancements in reasoning, coding, writing, and overall conversational abilities. Developed exclusively on Microsoft’s Azure model, GPT-5 aims to assist developers, businesses, and everyday users in more intuitive and productive manners. He elaborated, stating that Grok 5 is currently in development and is anticipated to launch by the year’s end. Musk highlighted Grok’s new “Imagine” feature, which enables users to create both images and videos, and it will be offered at no cost. In contrast, competing platforms often restrict video generation features, such as OpenAI’s Sora, by placing them behind paywalls.
