Trump aims for his legacy as the ultimate peacemaker

US President Donald Trump on Friday expressed his aspiration to be remembered as a “great peacemaker,” emphasizing his assertions of having resolved several enduring conflicts during his address at the Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit in Florida. In addressing inquiries regarding his legacy, Trump remarked, “Well, I, I’ll tell you what. So I told you that I settled eight wars. That means millions and millions of people. And some of those wars were going on, one was 34 years, one was 32 years, one was 29 years, one was 22 years. They were long-term wars, and a lot of people being killed every year.” He stated that his efforts contributed to the preservation of lives in various conflict zones. He stated, “So I’ve saved millions and millions of people.” It may seem unconventional to express this, yet I aspire for my legacy to be that of a distinguished peacemaker, as I genuinely believe I embody the qualities of one.

Meanwhile, Trump indicated that an additional 3,554 targets exist in Iran that the US intends to engage, asserting that military operations against these will be executed promptly in the context of the ongoing regional conflict. He delineated the extent of possible US military engagement in Iran, notwithstanding the continuing diplomatic negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict. There remain an additional 3,554 targets to address. The completion of that task is expected to occur in a timely manner. “At some point, we’re going to have to determine what we do,” Trump stated. In the context of Iran’s actions against the USS Abraham Lincoln, Trump asserted that Tehran fired 101 missiles at the US aircraft carrier, characterizing it as “a very valuable thing that we had floating on the water.” He further noted that all incoming missiles were successfully intercepted. “Out of the 101 missiles shot, 101 missiles were shot down and spread out all over the sea,” he stated.

Trump further asserted that the capabilities of Iranian air defense had been notably diminished. “They lack anti-aircraft capabilities, allowing us to operate freely above, searching for whatever we desire,” he stated. On Thursday, Trump announced the extension of the pause on strikes aimed at Iran’s energy infrastructure for an additional 10 days, until April 6, 2026, in the context of the ongoing diplomatic negotiations between the two parties. In a statement on Truth Social, the US President asserted that the announcement follows a “request” from the Iranian Government and additionally noted that the negotiations with Tehran were “going very well”.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized Tehran’s steadfastness in defending its sovereignty against “unprovoked American-Israeli aggression” during a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, as reported. Araghchi articulated on Friday, as reported that the Islamic Republic’s steadfast stance in support of Iran’s national rights and interests is unequivocally evident.
