U.S. Market Futures Pointing Higher for Continued Gains

U.S. stock futures are pointing higher in pre-market trading for Tuesday, October 25. The Dow Futures are at 18155.0 for a gain of 21.00 points. The S&P 500 Futures are at 2146.75 for a gain of 2.50 points. The Nasdaq Futures are at 4912.75 for a gain of 10.00 points. The Russell Futures are at 1224.2 for a gain of 0.40 points.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is at 17365.25 for a gain of 130.83 points or 0.76 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index is at 23565.11 for a loss of -38.97 points or -0.17 percent. China’s Shanghai Composite is at 3131.94 for a gain of 3.69 points or 0.12 percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex is at 28091.42 for a loss of -87.66 points or -0.31 percent. In Europe, the FTSE 100 is at 7016.13 for a gain of 29.73 points or 0.43 percent. Germany’s DAX is at 10797.21 for a gain of 36.04 points or 0.33 percent. France’s CAC 40 is at 4556.94 for a gain of 4.36 points or 0.10 percent. The Stoxx Europe 600 is at 344.82 for a gain of 0.56 points or 0.16 percent.

Tuesday’s Factors and Events

Stocks are pointing higher for another day of gains as investors hope for more positive earnings reports on Tuesday. On the economic calendar for Tuesday are the following reports: FHFA House Price Index, S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller HPI, Consumer Confidence, Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index and the State Street Investor Confidence Index.

Approximately 125 companies will report earnings on Tuesday. In the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Caterpillar, 3M and Apple will report earnings.

U.S. market indexes were higher Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 18223.03 for a gain of 77.32 points or 0.43 percent.
