U.S. Market Futures Lower with Oil Price Volatility

U.S. stock futures are pointing lower in pre-market trading for Thursday, October 6. The Dow Futures are at 18174.0 for a loss of -26.00 points. The S&P 500 Futures are at 2149.25 for a loss of -4.00 points. The Nasdaq Futures are at 4865.25 for a loss of -8.25 points. The Russell Futures are at 1242.2 for a loss of -3.00 points.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is at 16899.10 for a gain of 79.86 points or 0.47 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index is at 23952.50 for a gain of 164.19 points or 0.69 percent. China’s Shanghai Composite is at 3004.70 for a gain of 6.22 points or 0.21 percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex is at 28106.21 for a loss of -114.77 points or -0.41 percent. In Europe, the FTSE 100 is at 7024.09 for a loss of -9.16 points or -0.13 percent. Germany’s DAX is at 10563.68 for a loss of -22.10 points or -0.21 percent. France’s CAC 40 is at 4477.22 for a loss of -12.73 points or -0.28 percent. The Stoxx Europe 600 is at 343.47 for a loss of -0.73 points or -0.21 percent.

Thursday’s Factors and Events

Stocks are lower in pre-market trading as investors trade on oil price affects from a lower weekly inventory and watch for jobs data on Friday. The ADP private sector employment report was slightly lower than expected which could be a sign for Friday’s Bureau of Labor Statistics report.

Leading reports on the economic calendar for Thursday include Chain Store Sales and Jobless Claims.

The S&P 500 was also higher, closing at 2159.73 for a gain of 9.24 points or 0.43 percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed higher at 5316.02 for a gain of 26.36 points or 0.50 percent.
