Monday’s Factors and Events
Stocks are lower in pre-market trading Monday ahead of Monday night’s presidential debate and OPEC’s informal meeting in Algeria. The presidential debate will be important for voters and investors. OPEC will end its meeting Wednesday which could follow with production freezes helping to improve the price of oil. Lower oil prices have been a factor leading up to the meeting as many speculators do not expect an agreement to follow from the meeting.
Reports on the economic calendar for Monday include New Home Sales and the Dallas Fed Manufacturing Survey. Federal Reserve speeches from Neel Kashkari and Robert Kaplan are also scheduled for Monday.
