U.S. Market Futures Lower with Investors Cautious Ahead of Inflation Data

U.S. stock futures are pointing lower in pre-market trading for Friday, September 16. The Dow Futures are at 18080.0 for a loss of -35.00 points. The S&P 500 Futures are at 2133.0 for a loss of -5.00 points. The Nasdaq Futures are at 4805.5 for a loss of -8.25 points. The Russell Futures are at 1217.9 for a loss of -3.80 points.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is at 16519.29 for a gain of 114.28 or 0.70 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index is at 23335.59 for a gain of 144.95 or 0.63 percent. China’s Shanghai Composite is at 3002.85 for a loss of -20.66 points or -0.68 percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex is at 28627.70 for a gain of 214.81 or 0.76 percent. In Europe, the FTSE 100 is at 6735.75 for a gain of 5.45 points or 0.08 percent. Germany’s DAX is at 10393.45 for a loss of -37.75 points or -0.36 percent. France’s CAC 40 is at 4355.24 for a loss of -17.98 points or -0.41 percent. The Stoxx Europe 600 is at 339.85 for a loss of -0.49 points or -0.14 percent.

The U.S. stock futures are trading lower after slightly disappointing data reports on the economy were released yesterday. Oil prices, the consumer and inflation data will be the leading broad market factors to watch on Friday.

Stocks on watch for Friday include Deutsche Bank and Apple. Deutsche Bank may have to pay $ 14 billion for structuring overly risky mortgage products in 2005 to 2007. Apple’s stock has been steadily gaining since it began orders for its iPhone 7 last Friday. The smartphone manufacturer will release the phone in retail stores today.

Stocks gained on Thursday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 18212.48 for a gain of 177.71 points or 0.99 percent.
