Supportive factors included (1) early weakness in stocks which boosted the safe-haven demand for the dollar, and (2) speculation that divergent monetary policies among global central banks will boost the dollar’s interest rate differentials versus the euro and yen as the Fed continues to taper QE3 while the BOJ and ECB expand their monetary stimulus measures.
