Al Gore Just Sold More Than $37 Million Worth of Apple Stock
Former Vice President Al Gore has sold a lot of Apple stock.
CNBC reports that Gore, who is an Apple board member, sold about half his holdings (215,437 shares) in Apple Wednesday — a sale that resulted in $ 29 million. He now has 230,137 shares remaining, according to an SEC filing.
Earlier in February, Gore bought 70,000 shares at just over $ 13 per share. However, he then sold them at market prices, gaining about $ 8 million in return. According to CNBC, that means he’s sold more than $ 37.5 million worth of shares in February. The sale came as Apple shares hit an all-time high of $ 134.54 earlier this month, according to CNBC.
Gore has been an Apple board member since in 2003, and has received occasional stock grants since then. He is slated to run for re-election to Apple’s board on Tuesday, according to Apple’s 2017 proxy statement. No changes are expected to be made, notes CNBC.
