US : Chipotle Says Its Burger Chain Is Doing Well

Despite receiving bland reviews, Chipotle says its new burger joint is doing quite well.

Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold said sales at Tasty Made, its burger concept store, have been going “strong” since the store opened on Oct. 27 in Lancaster, Ohio, according to Bloomberg.

“Tasty Made is off to a very good start,” Arnold tells Bloomberg. “The food has been great, and the feedback we’ve received thus far has been largely positive.”

On Yelp, however, the restaurant’s 29 reviews average out to 2.5 stars. Common complaints have to do with the average taste of the food, a high price tag, and too-small portions. But users also note how busy the store is.

Tasty Made, which is marketed as a natural and more gourmet burger option, offers a very limited menu to customers. It offers three burger variations, fries, four shake flavors, and its “tasty bacon sauce.”

Chipotle executives are likely hoping Tasty Made will eventually help lift its overall sales, as the fallout from the poorly handled E.coli crisis continues to cut into sales. Chipotle’s quarterly sales for the three months ending in September marked the fourth-straight quarter decline.

Some good news: Chipotle cmg shares increased 1.4% in trading Friday.
