US would not participate in Israeli counter strike against Iran
Biden informs Netanyahu The US has decided not to participate in any potential Israeli counter strike against Iran.
In a conversation between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the United States made it clear that it would not be involved in any potential Israeli counter-offensive against Iran, according to a statement from a White House official on Sunday.
Iran retaliated by launching a significant number of drones and missiles towards Israel on Saturday evening. This action was in response to the alleged attack on Iran’s Syria consulate by Israel on April 1.
In a statement released on Saturday in response to the attacks, Biden conveyed to Netanyahu that Israel has shown an impressive ability to protect itself and overcome even unprecedented assaults.
In the statement, Biden did not mention whether he and Netanyahu discussed a potential Israeli response or any potential U.S. involvement.
During an interview on ABC’s “This Week” program, John Kirby, the White House’s top national security spokesperson, emphasized the United States’ commitment to supporting Israel’s self-defense while expressing a desire to avoid conflict with Iran.
When questioned about potential Israeli retaliation in Iran, Kirby emphasized the unwavering commitment of the United States to defending and assisting Israel in its self-defense.
“And as the president has emphasized repeatedly, our objective is not to escalate the conflict in the region.” We have no intention of engaging in a conflict with Iran. “And I believe I will conclude with that,” Kirby added.
“Our goal is to avoid further escalation of tensions in the region. “We have no intention of pursuing a broader confrontation,” Kirby stated.
